CHOIR MAN: A MIDLIFE CRISIS STORY

CHOIR MAN is a comic, yet dark novel about a man who gives up everything - his marriage, his job, his sanity – searching for the source of his discontent. Balancing a blend of audacity, naiveté and self-delusion, the main character, Benton Delando, tells his own story. He describes a seemingly perfect life–a loving wife and daughter, a modest home, a secure job at his father-in-law’s company. He tells of the comfort he finds in the Catholic Church, especially in his role as director of the youth choir. But, he also feels an uneasiness that he can no longer ignore. Desperate, he makes an ill-advised job change. There he meets Dave Hellman, a “hard-drinking, rock-and-rolling, adulterer”, who changes his life forever.
